Alondra Carmona '21

acarmona@middlebury.edu

Alondra Carmona is a rising sophomore from Chicago. Getting involved with JUNTOS was an obvious choice for her. Growing up, she saw the injustice of many immigrant workers, and she also knew she wanted to help in any way she could.

She first got involved with JUNTOS when she was invited to participate in Stories that Migrate, and has since been hooked.

As someone who is open about her citizenship status, she has been involved with other similar non-profit community groups in her hometown. Alondra has worked with Enlace a grassroots organization, advocating for DREAMERS in the community, helped with workshops to spread awareness of immigrants rights, and has done research pertaining the unjust work environments of migrant workers in Chicago.

Becoming an event planner for JUNTOS would allow her to create more exposure to the unjust treatments many immigrants face, not just reading about it, but actually putting a face to it. She is thoroughly excited to be apart of the board this year!
